Ukraine accuses Russia of war crimes after drone attack injures vegetable seller amid rising civilian casualties
Ukraine has released dramatic footage it says shows a Russian drone pursuing an unarmed fruit and vegetable seller in the southern city of Kherson, as officials renew accusations that Moscow is deliberately targeting civilians.
The video, published by Ukraine’s National Police, shows the vendor, identified only as Yuriy, running around his market stall and appearing to gesture in desperation as an explosive-laden drone circles overhead. Moments later, the drone detonates nearby.
Yuriy survived the attack but was injured.
Ukrainian authorities have described the strike as a potential war crime, alleging it forms part of a broader campaign to intimidate civilians living near the front line.
Russia has not commented on the specific incident.
The United Nations has reported a sharp rise in civilian casualties in Ukraine this year as drone and missile attacks continue across the country.
