The Biden administration has agreed to provide an additional $308 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

This comes as the United Nations warns more than half the population, or about 22 million people, are currently facing acute hunger.

In addition to this, a further 5.7 million individuals remain displaced in neighbouring countries and also require immediate relief.

The UN is requesting nearly 5 billion dollars in total for the ravaged country.

This latest donation brings America’s total humanitarian aid for Afghanistan and Afghan refugees to over 780 million since October.

As the funding is provided, the U-S is also requesting the Taliban allow “all aid workers, especially women to operate independently and securely” as they assist the country’s residents.
