White House calling on Russian Federation to release both Gershkovich and fellow detained American, Paul Whelan

New video shows the Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich being locked inside a glass box in a Russian court room.

It is a custom for detainees in Moscow, but difficult for many in the west to watch.

The judge rejected bail for Gershkovich, who will now be locked up for at least another month.

Russians arrested the 32-year-old journalist last month and accused him of espionage – but the Wall Street Journal and the White House strongly deny that charge.

The U.S. Ambassador to Russia said she met with him in person, and he is in good health, but she did not like what she saw.

The White House also weighing in after the court proceedings calling on the Russian Federation to release both Gershkovich and fellow detained American, Paul Whelan.

Some International intelligence officials say it appears that a prisoner swap could be likely in the coming weeks.
