U.S President signs executive order after cyber attack

In the wake of the cyberattack that took one of America’s most important gas pipelines offline, Joe Biden has moved to strengthen the country’s defense against hackers.

Biden is urging both private companies and government organisations to join forces and confront “persistent and increasingly sophisticated malicious cyber campaigns”.

Key measures introduced include the requirement for IT service providers to inform the government of breaches that may impact US networks.

There will also be a standardised book created to outline appropriate federal responses to cyber attacks.

The announcement from Biden came just hours after Colonial Gas and Diesel announced that it has finally restarted pipeline operations.
