Google has been ruled to hold an illegal monopoly in search by a U.S. federal judge.

This is the first major win for US antitrust authorities against Big Tech, with the decision possibly leading to a break up of Google’s parent company, Alphabet.

One of the District Judges stated, “Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly.”

Google controls about 90% of the online search market and 95% on smartphones. Alphabet’s shares fell by 4.3% after the ruling. #featured
