U.S. warns civilians to steer clear of Hormuz ports amid rising tensions with Iran over military target risks

The United States has issued an urgent warning urging civilians to stay away from port facilities along the Strait of Hormuz, signalling growing concerns the sites could become military targets as tensions escalate in the region.

U.S. Central Command says Iran’s regime may be using civilian ports for military operations that could threaten international shipping, prompting the advisory to dockworkers and vessel crews to avoid Iranian naval assets and equipment.

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian military official has pushed back, warning that if Iranian facilities are attacked, ports across the region could become legitimate targets, while denying that Revolutionary Guard vessels are hiding inside commercial ports.
