At its final public meeting, the House of Representatives Jan. 6 committee voted unanimously to recommend the Department of Justice investigate former President Donald Trump on four referrals.

A unanimous vote from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has sent criminal referrals against the former president to the DOJ.

The referrals follow the committee’s 18-month probe into the attack and the role that Trump played in the riots.

The committee has recommended that the DOJ investigate Trump on the following referrals:
– Obstruction of an Official Proceeding
– Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
– Conspiracy to Make a False Statement
– “Incite,” “Assist” or “Aid and Comfort” an Insurrection

Congressional investigators had been teasing criminal referrals against Trump and others who assisted his effort to overturn his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden, and met over the weekend to finalize the referrals.

Republican Liz Cheney says Trump is unfit for office.
