U.S. claim Russia preparing to stage pretext to attack Ukraine

The US has delivered its strongest warning yet that Russia is preparing to stage a pretext to attack Ukraine.

Ukrainian border guards remain on high alert, scoping for any sign of Russian movement.

President Joe Biden believes war could break out “within the coming days”, but stresses a diplomatic path forward is still possible.

Biden’s comments follow Moscow’s eleven page written response to Washington’s attempt at diplomacy.

The letter criticises the United States, with Moscow alleging it has received “no constructive answer” from the US to key demands.

We know Russia is attempting to block NATO’s expansion east, viewing the alliance as a threat to its values.

But as tensions seemingly escalate on the border the Kremlin has slammed Biden’s earlier address.

Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov says the US is continuing to “whip up tension” with such statements.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also raised concerns of a Russian pretext to invade Ukraine.

Blinken warns Russia could fabricate an excuse to invade the eastern European nation, as he attempts to create a path to diplomacy.
