The United States has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine.

The U.S. is sending Ukraine about $325 million.

It includes an enormous amount of artillery rounds and ammunition as the launch of the spring offensive against Russian forces approaches.

One of Ukraine’s top Defence officials says the offensive against Russian troops will start when Ukraine’s troops are ready.

He added in the interview with AP that deliveries of armoured vehicles and ammunition are key to the launch.

The announcement of the new U.S. aid comes before Friday’s meeting in Germany of defence and military leaders from more than 50 countries to discuss and plan for future Ukraine security assistance.

U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin says the United States is committed to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes.
