Two U.S. warships have sailed through international waters in the Taiwan Strait, the first operation since Nancy Pelosi’s controversial visit

Department of defence press sec, John Kirby, insists this is “very consistent” with America’s “one China policy.”

Adding the U.S. is seeking a “free and open Indo-Pacific” to travel anywhere that international law allows.

China’s military is watching closely, as the US Navy carries out its “routine” operation.

Tensions in the region have escalated since Pelosi’s visit, as China continues to assert its dominance with military drills.

China see’s Taiwan as a breakaway province, with many fearing they may use force to bring it under control.
