President Donald Trump has installed two new 88-foot-tall flag poles at the White House, claiming they were urgently needed and that he funded them personally.

The installation began on June 18, with the flag raised on the south lawn shortly after 1 p.m. during a ceremony attended by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

Trump asked reporters for their opinion on the flag display once it was up. The second flag pole was then installed on the north lawn but has not yet had a flag raised due to adverse weather conditions.

Personal gift

Trump stated that these flag poles were a personal gift to the White House, marking them as a long-awaited addition. He expressed hope that they would stand proudly for years.

Each pole cost approximately $50,000, which Trump also paid out of his own finances.

In a recent change, the White House removed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office, replacing it with one of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Earlier this year, Trump expressed interest in constructing a new ballroom at the White House.

When questioned about the motivation for the flag poles, Trump indicated he had considered them during his first term but felt sidetracked by media distractions.

He remarked, “I was the hunted. And now I’m the hunter,” highlighting a change in his perception of his role.
