Former President Donald Trump has been indicted for the third time, this time by a federal grand jury led by special counsel Jack Smith

The charges include conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

The indictment is part of the investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, linked to the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Trump, also facing charges in the classified documents probe and business fraud case, has pleaded not guilty in all instances.

Despite the legal challenges,  Trump is running for president in 2024. He is expected to face trial for previous indictments relating to mishandling of classified documents in the middle of next year.
