Trump ally will face contempt of Congress
Controversial Trump ally, Steve Bannon has surrendered to US authorities – set to face contempt of Congress charges after failing to give evidence at the Capitol riot hearings
Bannon had refused to speak to the select committee about what he knew about the planned protests which saw Trump supporters storm the Capitol building.
The justice department officially charged the former Trump aide on Friday and he now faces up to a year in prison and a 100-thousand dollar fine.
Bannon was fired from the White House back in 2017, but has remained staunchly loyal to former President Trump.
According to previous subpoena documents, Bannon warned on the eve of the Capitol riots that “all hell is going to break loose tomorrow”.
Surrounded by supporters as he entered the FBI’s Washington DC office, Bannon said “we’re taking down the Biden regime every day.”
