People were left stranded inside the English Channel after a train broke down

An emergency tunnel was filled with passengers who were travelling from Calais to Folkestone.

It’s understood the train’s alarms sounded, forcing people into a nearby area to escape.

The Euro-tunnel passengers were reportedly stranded underground for up to five hours.

Some were seen carrying suitcases and walking their dogs.

Services have since returned to normal and an investigation is underway into the fault.
