The high-end umbrellas not doing their jobs

Gucci and Adidas umbrellas are causing outcry for not keeping out the train

The Chinese-made umbrellas are retailing for 11,000 Yuan. But they’ve gone viral on the social media platform Weibo for not doing their job.

Gucci’s own website says the umbrellas are made for sun protection or decoration, and aren’t waterproof.

The parasols are part of a new collection, which is set to go up for sale from next month.

One Weibo user called the umbrellas “a very big but useless fashion statement”.

Others understood why the product may still be appealing, including for people who want to show off their wealth or luxury.
