Tesla cars barred from entering Chinese coastal region

Tesla cars will be barred from entering a Chinese coastal district for at least two months

A Chinese region is banning Tesla cars at a site that is holding an annual leadership summit.

This move comes just weeks after a similar ban was imposed in the city of Chengdu when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the area.

In 2021, the Chinese military banned Tesla’s from entering its complexes altogether. The decision came over fears the cameras installed on the vehicles were being used for spying purposes.

Tesla boss Elon Musk has long denied these claims, saying his company would be banned from China completely if the allegations were true.

The coastal city where the retreat will be held is a beach resort east of Beijing. It is known for hosting China’s most influential leaders on an annual basis.

The attendees will reportedly discuss personnel’s political moves and policy ideas behind closed doors.
