Terence Kelly jailed for more than 13 years for abducting Cleo Smith from Western Australia campsite

Terence Kelly has been jailed for 13 years and six months for abducting four-year-old Cleo Smith from a remote Western Australia campsite.

Kelly pleaded guilty last year to taking Smith from her family’s tent in October 2021.

After a huge police search, spanning 18 days, Cleo was found alive at Kelly’s house, just minutes from her own home.

Kelly was arrested and later admitted child stealing.

The case attracted global attention.

Handing down the sentence at Perth District Court, the judge said the crime displayed “the highest level of seriousness”.

Kelly will serve more than 11 years before being eligible for parole. #trending #featured
