The upcoming season of Apple TV’s ‘Ted Lasso’ could be its last, according to the show’s writers
The Sunday Times reports Ted Lasso’s writers are preparing to end the popular comedy-drama after the upcoming third season.
Series star and writer Brett Goldstein says the show was always planned for three seasons.
“We are writing it like that,” he says.

The show is possibly Apple TV‘s biggest hit, but it’s still unclear if these rumours are true.
“It was planned as three. Spoiler alert — everyone dies,” Goldstein says.
In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis says he saw the series expanding across three seasons.
“The story that’s being told – that three-season arc – is one that I see, know, and understood. I’m glad that [Apple TV+] are willing to pay for those three seasons. As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don’t know.”
Apple hasn’t commented on the rumours and writers remain tight-lipped on any spoilers ahead of season three.
But fans are taking to social media to voice their devastation if the show does possibly come to an end.
ted lasso really is ending with season three this is just the news I needed to hear right now, the most comforting show in recent years, ending next year, everything is fine,
For others, the decision is respected, but feelings are still bittersweet.
yes i think it’s a good thing that ted lasso is ending on the creators’ own terms rather than apple milking it’s success but i also selfishly never want this show to end and think it should go on for 638252837 seasons okay we exist
The series first debuted in 2020 and became a flagship series for Apple TV+. It has since received a number of Emmy nominations and wins, including Brett Goldstein for ‘Best Supporting Actor’.
The show was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly. It is based on a character Sudeikis originally played in commercials for NBC Sports.
