Taliban militants have taken to the streets to show off their new armoured vehicles and weapons which were left behind by US and Afghan special forces
Clad in US military uniforms, Taliban militants have thrown a parade riding in tanks and armoured SUVs left by American and Afghan troops. The fighters waved the white Taliban flag from the vehicles.
In the footage posted on social media, many of the vehicles appear to be in near perfect condition.
Taliban takes to the skies
However, it wasn’t only a ground display, with the militant group also taking to the skies in their newly-acquired Black Hawk helicopter.
This all follows the Taliban making their way through Kabul’s airport a day ago, dressed in US military uniforms and holding US made weapons.
Pentagon urges for calm
Meanwhile, the Pentagon’s Press Secretary says there’s no need to worry about the militants accessing the weapons material, as they can’t fly or operate them.
This comes as US special forces defend the Afghanistan withdrawal. Defence Secretary Llyod Austin recently said he’s never been involved in an operation that has gone exactly to plan.
