A storm surge has left at least one person dead as multiple tornado’s sweep through the South of the U.S.

Multiple emergency agencies continue to provide urgent assistance, with Bryan County in the state of Georgia placed on high alert.

Heavy rain has also fallen, and most of metro Atlanta remains under a flash flooding warning.

Around 35 million Americans were placed in the ‘at-risk’ category on Tuesday. Many of these residents are living from the Gulf Coast states through to the Carolinas.

In East Texas, a middle-aged man was killed when a tree fell on an RV where he was staying.

Residents are advised to stay vigilant and keep an eye out for updated weather warnings.
