Sporting codes left wanting on concussion risks: Senate report

Major sporting codes around the world are having to reckon with an increasing body of research highlighting brain injury risks to their players

 
By now most sports fans would have heard of CTE – or Chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

That’s acquired brain damage that can build up from even small head traumas over a life time of playing sport.

It’s associated with the more physical sports like American Football, rugby or Australian rules football – but it can even soccer players are not immune.

Now a new Senate report has found professional and amateur sports are not doing enough to protect players.

So what does this mean for players and for the future of these sports?
