The Prime Minister of Spain has become the target of a phone hack

The Spanish Government has confirmed that Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s phone was hacked, and data was stolen from the device last year.

The device was reportedly compromised between May and June of 20-21 using a Pegasus spying software.

The phone of the country’s Defence Minister was also breached.

The Pegasus software is an Israeli firm developed by the NSO group, and is used by governments and intelligence agencies in several countries.

But it has drawn widespread attention in Spain following media reports that it’s been widely used by the government to spy on leaders and activists in the Catalan region.
