South Korea blasts North over more missile launches

North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern waters, the latest in a recent barrage of weapons tests.

This news comes a day after North Korea warned the redeployment of a US aircraft carrier near the Korean Peninsula was inflaming regional tensions.

The Japanese government confirmed the launches, saying Pyongyang’s testing activities are “absolutely unacceptable”.

Japan says the weapons could be submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

The first missile was fired at about 1:47am local time and the second one some six minutes later.

On Tuesday, nuclear-armed North Korea test-fired a ballistic missile farther than ever before, sending it soaring over Japan for the first time in five years.

Residents in Japan ran for cover.

Mr Ino said Tokyo would not tolerate the repeated actions by North Korea.
