Inflation was flat in October when compared to the previous month, providing a hopeful sign that stubbornly high prices are easing their grip on the U.S. economy.

Wall Street’s main stock indexes have climbed as cooler-than-expected inflation data boosted expectations that the Federal Reserve is done raising interest rates and could start cutting them next year.
