Singapore to launch new ‘sustainable’ micro-satellite to explore space

Published

Singapore will explore new frontiers in space by launching a micro-satellite which is around the size of a mini fridge.

The nation’s Satellite Research Centre will see the 100 kilogram piece of technology launched into space, and fly about 250 kilometres above Earth.

The satellite will boast a unique and fuel-efficient engine that will thrust at low power.

It will monitor agriculture, mining and real estate data in real-time.

Researchers say the project is an example of science working with industry to deliver results back on Earth.

It will eventually burn up in the atmosphere when it re-enters… leaving no debris in space.
