Emergency services, including ambulances, swiftly responded to the incident in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Law enforcement officers quickly approached the area with their weapons drawn. Police verified that multiple individuals had been hit by gunfire, and several were transported to the hospital for treatment.
About 1 million paradegoers and 600 law enforcement officials were expected at Wednesday’s celebration.
