What could NASA be feeding its astronauts whilst they are out of this world?

 
What does a typical day in space entail?

It’s a big question and probably something most of us will never experience for ourselves.

But that just adds to the fascination.

For instance, did you know the first meal astronauts eat before venturing out of this world is traditionally a breakfast of steak and eggs?

This is one of NASA’s many food traditions and there is science behind the menu choice.

But is it sustainable or are there other, more nutritional alternatives?

Professor Matthew Gilliham from the University of Adelaide joined to discuss.
