Scotland’s Prime Minister warns the UK their independence is a matter of “when, not if.”
Scotland’s first PM Nicola Sturgeon told UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson that a second independence referendum is on the cards.
She said the country’s second independence referendum is “a matter of when – not if.”
This is the first conversation between the two leaders since Sturgeon took up the position. She became the first minister of Scotland following Thursday’s Scottish Parliament election.
Working together to fight COVID
During the phone call, Sturgeon pledged to work with the UK to combat the Covid-19 pandemic and steer the country towards economic recovery.
But the first minister also re-iterated her intention to “ensure that the people of Scotland can choose their own future when the crisis is over.”
