Russia has provided its position on Ukraine to the United States ahead of a key call between top diplomats on both sides

This follows Joe Biden saying his administration is prepared to sanction the Kremlin’s elite inner circle over Ukraine.

The president also had a seemingly productive conversation with Ukrainian leader Zelensky a few days ago as the US prepares for any eventuality.

Joe Biden says his administration is prepared to sanction the Kremlin’s elite inner circle over Ukraine

This follows the president’s seemingly productive conversation with Ukrainian leader Zelensky a few days ago, as the US prepares for any eventuality.

Meanwhile, the United Nations meeting on the Ukraine crisis ended in a standoff.

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield says Russia “didn’t give the answers” anyone was hoping for.

The meeting was set up to give the Russians an opportunity to explain the amassing of troops on the border and whether it will lead to war.

The open discussion proceeded at the UN’s headquarters, despite opposition from both Beijing and Moscow.

US diplomats are urging their Russian counterparts to take a diplomatic path forward, warning an invasion will result in significant sanctions.

Russia has dismissed arguments from the U.S, accusing Washington of “whipping up tensions and provoking escalation.”

But White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki maintains Russia is an “imminent threat”

Meanwhile, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price says the future of Ukraine rests in the hands of just one individual.
