Same-sex and interracial marriage bill may pass

GOP support for gay rights is growing in the Senate, and lawmakers are on track to send President Joe Biden a bill to sign in the coming weeks

If passed, the bill will codify both same-sex and interracial marriage, meaning the power to overturn these rights would be taken away from the Supreme Court.

Democrats are pushing to get at least 10 Republican senators on board with the House-passed legislation.

Sixty senators in the evenly divided Senate would be needed to advance the bill past a filibuster.

Cheddar’s Megan Pratz says the proposed legislation is gaining more support each day, and Congress is doing its job.
