Ryanair says airlines should not fly over Belarus without a guarantee that their planes will not be forced to land in the nation

It comes the airline was told to land of one of its jets in the nation last May.

The plane was on its way to Lithuania when Belarus controllers ordered it to land in the nation’s capital of Minsk.

Once it was on the ground, a Belarusian journalist on board was arrested along with his female companion.

Western powers responded with a wave of new sanctions and the US charged four officials with aircraft piracy.

The Head of Ryanair says the airline supported the US’ actions.
