A Russian tennis player has discovered a hack in avoiding a Wimbledon ban on competitors from her country

Natela Dzalamidze has changed her nationality to Georgian in order to compete in the Wimbledon tournament.

The 29 year old will now compete in the women’s doubles at the end of June.

Just after Russia invaded Ukraine the All England Club declared that Russian and Belarusian tennis players will not be allowed to compete in the Wimbledon tournament.

The club says there is nothing they can do about the nationality change putting the responsibility on the Women’s Tennis Association and the International Tennis Federation.

Wimbledon is the only tennis tournament that has placed a ban on Russian and Belarusian players and has lost ranking points in response.

Daniil Medvedev and Victoria Azarenka are among those absent from the tournament.
