Russia is among the candidates to host the 2028 and 2032 European Championships, despite being banned from international sport

UEFA announced Russia and Turkey will go up against the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland for Euro 2028, as well as Italy for Euro 2032.

The governing body will announce the hosts for both tournaments in September 2023.

Russia hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup while Saint Petersburg was one of the venues used for the delayed Euro 2020 Championships, which were held last year.

Saint Petersburg was supposed to host this season’s Champions League Final in May, but was stripped of the game when Russia invaded Ukraine.
