King Charles has been left “saddened” by the news of his long-time friend passing.

 
The royals have shared touching tributes to Barry Humphries.

Barry Humphries died peacefully in Sydney, on Saturday, aged 89.

He was an Australian comedic legend of stage and screen.

His talent spanned generations and continents, with the man behind Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson becoming a household name.

King Charles has been left “saddened” by the news of his long-time friend passing.

Reports His Majesty is writing privately to Mr Humphries’ family.

Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has shared her sadness around the loss of “dearest Barry”.

Taking to Twitter she paid tribute to entertainment royalty saying: “Thank you dearest Barry for giving my father so much kindness. We will miss your amazing brilliance.”
