The reason for Mahrez’s ‘blue tick’ deduction is either down to a software glitch or a breach of Twitter’s terms of conduct.

It is unlikely Mahrez’s Twitter verification is tied to Musk’s new role. However, it has sparked online attention with over 315,000 re-shares.

Musk recently took over Twitter, in a $44 billion takeover.

He says it needs to be transformed into a private company to build trust with users.

Today at the MET Gala, he hinted at how he wishes to transform the platform.

“My goal, assuming everything gets done, would be to make Twitter as inclusive as possible,” he says.

Musk also explained how he wants to make Twitter a platform in which users enjoy and find interesting content.
