Queen cancels Christmas

Queen Elizabeth has made the call to cancel her annual pre-Christmas family lunch as Covid-19 cases continue to soar through the UK

A source at Buckingham Palace says the decision is precautionary, with concerns a lunch would put too many people’s health at risk.

Queen Elizabeth has hosted the occasion for her extended family for decades… and plans were in place for the lunch to be held at Windsor Castle.

This Christmas also marks the first time Elizabeth will be without her husband of 73 years, Phillip, who passed away in April.

The decision to cancel comes as England’s chief medical officer warns about the spread of the Omicron variant, calling on people to be careful over the holiday period.
