Vladimir Putin has conceded that China has ‘concerns’ about the Ukraine war, during his face-to-face meeting with Xi Jinping

The world was watching as Russian leader Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping met face to face. The two authoritarian leaders have been brought together by their mutual feelings toward the west.

During his opening speech, Putin conceded that that China has concerns about the Ukraine war.

“We highly appreciate the balanced position of our Chinese friends in connection with the Ukrainian crisis. We understand your questions and concerns”

China has consistently refused to condemn Russia’s actions and has instead given unwavering economic and trade support, despite global condemnation.

China’s Xi assured Putin that he will “work with Russia to extend strong mutual support on each other’s core interests.”

He thanked Putin for his respect of the one-China policy, stressing Taiwan is a part of China.

At the White House, Pentagon Press Sec, John Kirby shrugged off any concerns about the meeting.

And instead, sent a firm message to China.

“Our message to China, I think, been consistent: that this is not the time for any kind of business as usual with Mr. Putin, given what he’s done inside Ukraine. This is not the time to be isolated from the rest of the international community, which has largely condemned what he’s doing in Ukraine and not only condemned it, but stepped up to help the Ukrainians defend themselves and their territorial integrity,”

TikTok implements stricter guidelines on weight-loss drug promotion

Published

TikTok is tightening its regulations on influencers who promote weight-loss drugs like Ozempic.

With over 170 million users in the US, the app aims to prevent the spread of potentially harmful content related to rapid weight loss.

Starting in May, TikTok will prohibit influencers from posting “before-and-after” photos and restrict minors from accessing weight-loss content deemed risky. The crackdown extends to any content promoting drastic weight loss methods, aiming to combat the promotion of unrealistic body standards.

However, some influencers, like Dave Knapp and Kim Carlos, criticise the move, arguing it discriminates against those with health conditions. Others fear losing their income as TikTok takes down their content, prompting concerns about the platform’s future amid potential US bans.

As TikTok enforces stricter guidelines, influencers may seek alternative platforms to share weight-loss content. Despite the popularity of drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, the crackdown reflects growing concerns about the impact of such promotions on user health.
