Prince William has met with Ukrainian refugees on the second day of a surprise trip to Poland.

The visit falls against the backdrop of a bloody war just across the border.

In Warsaw, William spoke with some of those who had fled the invasion.

The heir to the throne also met Poland’s President to lay a wreath commemorating those who have died in battle.

A spokesperson for the Prince says he discussed the need for ongoing support to Ukraine and its people.

He also thanked people who are hosting refugees.

Prince William’s visit to Poland is at the request of the U.K. government, but the prince has long been clear about his support for the people of Ukraine.
