Prince Andrew has reportedly been left ‘crushed and confused’ after he was banned from attending this week’s Garter Day service

The 62-year-old Duke of York was nowhere to be seen as the pompous ceremony kicked off, one of the most colourful days on the royal calendar.

It’s believed Prince William and his father, Charles were the two individuals who intervened, ensuring their disgraced relative was not allowed to take part.

William allegedly threatened to pull out of the event altogether if his uncle took part, and was ‘alarmed’ at even the prospect Andrew was going to be in attendance.

It’s believed the final decision was made only hours prior to the event kicking off, as Andrew’s name was left on the order of service.

Meanwhile, 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth attended some of the private elements of the event, even posing for a photograph with her son, Charles and his wife, Camilla.
