The man accused of breaking into Nancy Pelosi’s home has plead not guilty to charges

David De Pape is facing a San Francisco court on a string of charges, including the attempted murder of the US House Speaker’s husband.

He says he was on a suicide mission, and had other plans to target politicians and their families.

Police believe De Pape beat Paul Pelosi with a hammer, before fracturing his skull.

It’s alleged he was plotting to kidnap the House Speaker ahead of the upcoming U-S midterms.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins says the attack was “politically motivated”.

While Nancy Pelosi was not home at the time of the attack, De Pape says he wanted to break her kneecaps.

He is facing charges that carry sentences of up to 30 years.
