Authorities confirmed almost 393,000 new infections, which brings the country’s total confirmed cases to 19.56 million.

Ten Indian states and territories have enacted restrictions, but the Federal government is hesitant to declare a national lockdown.

This comes as the country’s COVID-19 task force reportedly advised leaders to impose nationwide restrictions.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed Britain will send 1,000 ventilators to the India, to support the nations soaring case numbers.

The ventilators will play a vital part of providing life-saving equipment, and will help “the most severely affected”
