In the wake of the deadly Uvalde mass shooting, the U.S. Justice Department will launch an official review into the response of law enforcement officials
The review follows requests from Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, as local authorities face scrutiny for the way the situation was handled.
There are a number of conflicting accounts as to how the massacre unfolded and whether officers should have entered the school earlier.
Some parents believe a quicker response could have saved children’s lives.
The Justice Department says the review will provide an independent account of actions and responses that day, identifying lessons learned and the best practices moving forward.
