North Korea reopens hotline with South in bid to mend relations

North Korea has reopened its communication line with the South

Communication lines are back up and running as North and South Korea have restored their cross-border hotline.

The re-opening follows North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s vowing to restore communication in a recent address.

Communications between the two countries, including key connections between the presidential office, militaries, and spy agencies, have long been troubled.

South Korea’s Ministry says there is “a foundation for recovering inter-Korean relations” between the two countries.

But Kim Jong-Un says South Korea should abandon a “double-dealing attitude” and “hostile viewpoint” over their recent missile tests.
