Nicola Sturgeon calls on Boris to go ASAP

Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon says Johnson’s decision to stay on the job as interim Prime Minister is unsustainable and he needs to go now.

Scotland is largely non-conservative and Sturgeon has long been an advocate for the territory’s independence.

She has leaned into the breakdown of Johnson’s government as another example of why Scottish independence is a “democratic” cause.

It follows Johnson ruling out giving Sturgeon the authority to hold a referendum on the issue just a day earlier.

In a letter to Sturgeon, the prime minister says the question was settled back in 2014, when Scottish residents voted 55 per cent to 45 per cent to stay in Union.

But the First Minister says her people deserve a permanent alternative to Westminster.
