Rivals of Benjamin Netanyahu are up against a midnight Wednesday local time deadline to lock down a new government to take over Israel’s leadership.

The camp led by the centrist Yair Lapid and Jewish nationalist Naftali Bennett appears to edge closer to its goal after two additional parties lined up on Tuesday behind the emerging coalition.

The proposed government is made up of groups with wildly different political views but has united in the effort to end Netanyahu’s 12-year run in power.

The nation continues to be divided as Netanyahu’s corruption trial split sides which resulted in four rounds of inconclusive balloting.
