A Myanmar court has convicted Aung San Suu Kyi of corruption

It’s the latest legal onslaught against the 76-year-old former leader.

The court found she accepted a bribe of $600,000 in cash and gold.

She has been sentenced to five years in prison by the court, which is run by Myanmar’s military junta.

She has already been sentenced to six years for incitement against the military, breaching COVID orders and breaking a telecommunications law.

Journalists were barred from attending the court hearings in the capital, and Suu Kyi’s lawyers have also been restricted from speaking to the media.
