Monkeypox declared public health emergency

Published

The monkeypox outbreak is now a public health emergency in the U.S.

The Biden Administration made the ruling, in a move that could make it easier to put funding into the disease.

Over 6,000 Americans have been infected with the disease, with 14,000 cases around the world.

The U.S. decision comes a week after the World Health Organisation declared the diseases a global emergency.

At the White House, reporters have questioned whether President Biden acted fast enough.

We know the disease is being transmitted primarily among men who have sexual relations with other men.

But some authorities say it’s only a matter of time before the outbreak spreads more widely.
