“Ladies, never let anyone tell you, you are past your prime” were the words of Michelle Yeoh as she accepted the Oscar for Best Actress in a motion picture.

It was of course for her role as laundromat manager Evelyn Wang in the hit film ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once’ – which swept up at the Los Angeles ceremony.

Yeoh is the first woman from an Asian background to win the award in 95 years, and only the second Asian lead to ever be nominated.

Born in Malaysia, she also becomes the first person of south-east Asian descent to be victorious in the category.

Yeoh dedicated the award to “all the little boys and girls who look like [her] watching at home.”

Meanwhile, Michelle Yeoh’s mother, Janet, broke into tears AND BROKE THE INTERNET as she celebrated her daughter winning the Academy Award.

Janet Yeoh was attending an Oscars watch party in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with family and friends.
