Mercedes-Benz locks in vision for a green, electric future

The luxurious German carmaker Mercedes-Benz plans to overhaul its current line-up and go fully electric by the end of the decade

Mercedes-Benz has revealed bold plans that it will be ready to go fully electric by the end of the decade.

To make this a reality, the company will have a fully electric vehicle in every segment by next year.

By 2025 the company won’t develop any more new petrol or diesel-powered cars

Mercedes-Benz will only develop new electric vehicle platforms and will launch three separate ones in 2025.

These three platforms will underpin different types of vehicles:

The first will cover all medium and large Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles. The second will form the base for all-electric performance vehicles. The third will be for vans and other light commercial vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz chief Ola Kallenius says that now is the right time for Mercedes to embrace EV tech.

The German company plans to build eight giga factories to produce batteries around the world. It also plans to create a huge charging network, with more than 530,000 AC and DC charging points.

While the fate of TikTok remains uncertain in the U.S.—there is no shortage of possibilities.

Several investors are hoping to benefit from a new federal law that requires TikTok’s China-based parent company to sell the popular platform or face a ban.

This comes after ByteDance and TikTok filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government to block the law from going into effect.
