Leaders of 40 European nations unite in Prague to discuss political issues engulfing the region

Leaders of more 40 European nations unite in Prague to discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, among other political issues.

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss was also in attendance, in what is an historic meeting.

French President Emmanuel Macrons is a key driver behind this event and says the nations need to build a “common strategy” on the war.

Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelensky spoke via video link, with Germany’s Olaf Scholz commending the gathering.

The summit is called the ‘European Political Community beyond the EU’ and Macron says it sends a “message of unity” to the world.

Following the meeting, Liz Truss made it clear the summit is “not about moving closer to Europe” but “about working with Europe” on issues that both Britain and the UK face.

Meanwhile, when pressed about her working relationship with Macron, Truss admitted he is a ‘friend’.

Crude oil surges 7% amid fears of Middle East conflict; Strait of Hormuz disruptions may push Brent over $100.

Crude oil prices spiked dramatically as investors react to the growing risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. U.S. crude surged 7.2 percent, trading near $71.84 a barrel, signalling heightened concern across energy markets.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping chokepoint, has come under intense scrutiny. Rising war-risk insurance premiums and suspended tanker traffic are already slowing the movement of oil, creating ripple effects in global supply chains.

JPMorgan has warned that prolonged disruptions over three weeks could force Gulf producers to reduce output, potentially pushing Brent crude prices to between $100 and $120 a barrel. Markets are closely watching for developments that could reshape global energy pricing.
